Let's get serious- Google+ is here to stay

Now it's easy for people to dismiss Google+ now, but here is my theory... Google+ will be a network of the future...
Let me explain...
Many people these days are on Facebook, in fact it's pretty much at saturation point... I'm at a point where if I see another Facebook app request I simply sigh and ignore it...
I'm not anti-Facebook... it's simply a tool to me... and tools are good, we need tools, but let me dust off the mat and talk about Google+.
Google+ has communities, which to me marry's the best things about Twitter, LinkedIn and Facebook. It's personal (like Facebook), you can use hashtags and mentions, it even has trends (like Twitter), and finally it is group orientated (liked LinkedIn).
The best of three worlds in my opinion...
Now I just wish somebody would use it with me....

I have achieved in the real world... but on the internet people can be cruel

Hi everyone... Now I know there is a lot going on in the internet world, what with Twitter changing their policy recently... in an open way that makes facebook's little private changes look like a child who is trying to keep their amazing way to steal biscuits a secret...
No I'm talking about something I did in my real life on Sunday
This is what I am talking about, I'm terrible at running particularly... however, I achieved 1hour and 26 mins on my first attempt of a 10k... I am very proud of myself... I had random people who I didn't know cheering me, giving me high 5's... Motivating me all the way to the finish line, might sound a little crass, but they really made the event worth taking part in... and all those other runners were digging in too, so I figured I could give it a shot. Some people were wheezing to the finishing line, they were the ones who got the most support generally... Now my big question is

But why doesn't this happen on the internet? People feel that with anonymity they can be complete jerks/ morons... and pick on those who need to hone there stills the most. I'm talking about this: Trolling and flaming.

Why is it in real life, those who need cheering the most will get support from a big crowd, but on the internet (arguably the same environment), the bad artists/youtube singers/ writers/bloggers/ get flamed terribly. I mean... I don't get it at all...

Anonymity is the key reason... I find this scary really, a group mentality that trolls people just because they won't be revealed... I don't like that idea.

I know some people would argue that people who watch me running in Manchester aren't the same kind of people who are going to flame fancovers of songs, and you might be right...But you can bet your life that the people who are trying to contribute to the internet world probably don't deserve it, they might be not very good, but they are trying....

Don't be discouraged people who are trolled online, think that your submission is like crossing the finish line, it doesn't matter about the comments after, at least you did it.

AND TROLLS AND FLAMERS... WHAT UR PROBLEM?!

Wow blog... long time no speak

Hello... It's been a while *awkward silence*
So apologises about the very long gap since my last entry... what can I say... It's been pretty busy up in here. I mean firstly I got a new job... and then secondly... I got a new place to live... and then suddenly... life all got extremely hectic and busy... also being on a computer all day means that writing blog posts comes second to drawing and various other things...
So what's been happening in the internet world...
Well what hasn't would be more accurate... I mean social media has pretty much exploded... there are so many networks that it's getting a bit ridiculous....e.g.

Oh you like running? there's a social media network for that

Oh you like coffee? there's a social media network for that

Oh you like drawing original comics that are of a specific genre? there's a social media network for that

Now I shouldn't be complaining... really I shouldn't... but how many social media networks do we really need... surely the point of social media is less segregation and we're meant to share more about our personal interests on a few networks...

Well that's my opinion. I mean it gets progressively more cliquey with time as more and more networks pop up. This is my own personal opinion, feel free to disagree completely...

But the big mover and shaker

Now bad and ill-used pun aside... Valid point. Pinterest seems to be growing almost alarmingly. I mean it's not often that you can get so many members so quickly who actively uses a network and know how to use it in the words of Gonzo the... whatever 'when you're right you're right'.
So I suppose I should give a round of applause to Pinterest for there nice interface... and the nice pictures people are sharing that I wouldn't have found on it's cliquey older brother tumblr, who I much think of as a 'too cool for school' type of guy.

Anyway... speaking of personified computer things...apologises for people who can't read Japanese here... but yes...just yes...

So I think that's all for now, I've been doing some drawing myself lately and been getting a hell of a lot better at it... more to come soon

CONTENT BLOCKED BY SOPA

I am striking today because of SOPA... you can strike too! and I think you should. The SOPA legislation is ridiculous, it would affect everyone as a lot of our favourite content would go out of the window

CONTENT BLOCKED BY SOPA

I think you catch the drift of my opinion on the SOPA  thing

InDesign is fun... and Google analytics is useful

So I've been messing around with indesign.... it's a great program... I think it has a great interface (a bit tricky at first but... still good... great for printing bleedmarks and all the rest of it)

I followed a great tutorial and make a coffee shop menu :)
I really like some of it's inbult features like tab's and the styling... it's great!

Moving on to anayltics... well... what can I say? I found where users were going (and most of them were clicking on a link that wasn't going anyway... my fault I suppose) and also looked at where they were going... it's also interesting to see where they are from (one visitor was from Quebec!)
This was the part that saddened me

Where are all of my Manchester homies at? Whereas I do live in Bradford right now... I'm sad that my peeps in the North West are so few in number... why so few of you? I mean... even Stoke on Trent is there... :(
Oh well! Another point for Yorkshire
